CIRD (Cambodian Institute for Research and Rural Development - https://www.cird.org.kh) is a NGO having mission to fighting poverty, to improve the livelihoods of rural communities through capacity building, service and organizational management support enabling rural livelihood systems to improve its position from a subsistence system to an income generating agro-food production and agricultural social enterprises. CIRD works directly with farmer organizations and local communities to provide technical and managerial capacity building and appropriate agricultural technical know-how to ensure that farmer can improve their lives and livelihoods in self-determination. CIRD is seeking to recruit 5 Junior Agronomists/Field Trainers to work in Battambang and Banteay Mean Chey on “a sustainable, traceable climate smart and inclusive rice supply chain” project funded by IFC-World Bank Group.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of Master Trainers (experts in rice and FO) and with management support from Project Manager, the Junior agronomists/Field Trainers’s main tasks are to:

- Provide training to SRP participating rice farmers and lead farmers;
- Following-up and coaching lead farmers and partner rice mill starffs when they provide training to SRP participating farmers;
- Provide technical support and advice to lead farmers and partner rice mill starffs since the preperation stage (training session plan
preparation,training materials, arrangement with stakeholders) and during training delivery;
- With support from Master Trainers, the junior agronomists/field trainers will fill out the gaps at the training and always do reflection
at the end of training to improve the next training.
- Assist M&E officer & the project team in collecting data on the progress of SRP implementation/application;
- With support from M&E team, field trainers will provide training and coaching to partner rice mill staffs, local partners and lead
farmers on digital recording;
- Monitor data recording performed by lead farmers and rice mill staffs on the SRP guideline;
- Assist Master Trainers, partner rice mill and local partner, in organizing field days and demonstration plots to promote the SRP and
CSA technologies and practices to increase local awareness and demand for scaling up.
Key qualifications and experiences:
- BSc. degree (or higher) in agriculture with specialization in rice production;
- Good background on farmer organisation and marketing of agricultural products;
- Over 2-year experiences in rice and rice seed production and in developing and managing the quality control systems; particularly
for SRP standard
- Over 2-year experiences in organising and conducting trainings, knowledge sharing workshops and meeting facilitation skills;
- Strong commitment to work in the field, to meet the deadline and to achieve results
- Good in communication, information/data collection and processing, and in writing report
- Teamwork spirit;
- Acceptable level of English proficiency.
