Skills people can use in their work

Rural Education and Training

CIRD combines explanation, group exercises, demonstrations, coaching and field follow-up to build practical skills with rural actors and partner teams.

Farming and field learning

Learning covers rice and seed production, vegetables, livestock, agroecological practice and farm planning. Demonstrations and field visits give participants opportunities to observe, discuss and compare approaches.

Food safety and consumer rights

CIRD shares food-safety and consumer-rights information through public workshops, video, radio and social media. Consumer dialogue and networking give people ways to exchange experience and participate in collective action.

Business records and financial skills

Skills for savings groups and associations

Training and coaching support the practical responsibilities of group leaders: managing savings, organising member services, preparing business plans and applying agreed quality checks. CIRD has worked with women’s savings groups, rice cooperatives and associations for pepper, palm sugar, salt and wild honey.

Standards and cooperative management

Training helps cooperative teams work with the Sustainable Rice Platform standard and internal management systems: the arrangements used to organise checks, records and responsibilities.
