Women's economic development through agricultural cooperatives

The Cooperation for Women's Economic Development assignment supported agricultural cooperatives to strengthen management, production planning and relationships with buyers. Its scope included rice, seed, local chicken and safe vegetables.

Locations: Kampong Speu, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Battambang

CIRD’s contribution

Technical and institutional support for cooperative management, production, product quality and market links.

Practical work

Supported cooperative capacity and business relationships.
Trained and coach rice producers on quality requirements and seed production.
Facilitated production planning and negotiations between producer groups and buyers.
Supported provincial agriculture officers with cooperative capacity-building and monitoring plans.

Activities and outputs

An assignment designed to support 17 agricultural cooperatives.
Producer training, internal quality-control support, business connections and cooperative-monitoring plans.
