Food, enterprise and local resilience

Sustainable rural livelihoods

Rural livelihoods combine production, household food needs, income, services and the ability to respond to changing conditions. CIRD considers those connections with farmers and partners.

Household production and diversification

The January 2026 Pnou village follow-up included chickens, pigs and household vegetables. Production visits and records help teams discuss what households are doing and where practical support is useful.

Women’s enterprises and cooperative services

Women’s enterprise work connects production planning, seeds, markets and cooperative services. Work with women’s savings groups during livelihood recovery and earlier support in Stung Treng also addressed management skills and community organisations.

Wild honey, palm sugar and local enterprise

Support for Mondulkiri wild-honey and Kampong Speu palm-sugar associations connected member skills, product specifications, internal checks and buyers. These origin-based products bring rural enterprise and collective quality management together.

Choices shaped by water and climate

In January 2026, crop-priority discussions in Moung Russei, Battambang considered dry-season water constraints, household livestock and wet-season rice varieties.
